Trash, Recycling, Brush and Bulk Waste Collection

The City of Marble Falls and Waste Management have changed the pickup zones and collection days for trash, recycling, brush, and bulk waste to improve service efficiency.

Rates

Residential Rates

Residential rates are $26.86 per month. This rate is for once-a-week curbside collection, including curbside recycling with a 96-gallon bin. You may add a cart for $10.72 per month. Waste Management provides carts and bins. A single-family residence is provided with one cart and one recycling bin.  

8.25% sales tax is charged on all garbage collection services.

Here is a simple breakdown of the new collection schedule by zone:

Trash & Recycling

  • Zone 1: Trash -  Monday | Recycling - Every other Monday
  • Zone 2: Trash - Tuesday | Recycling - Every other Tuesday
  • Zone 3: Trash - Wednesday | Recycling - Every other Wednesday
  • Zone 4: Trash - Thursday | Recycling - Every other Thursday

Place carts at the curbside by 7 a.m. on your pickup day. Place the cart within three feet of the curb, with the wheels toward your house, to allow the automated arm of the collection truck to reach it from the street. Please place the cart at least two feet from any obstruction, such as a mailbox or a wall.

Do not place carts out before 6 p.m. the day before pickup.

All carts must be removed from the curbside no later than midnight of the scheduled collection day.

Recycling Program

Recycle all empty glass, plastic bottles, cans, paper, and cardboard.  Keep foods and liquids out of the recycling.  No loose plastic bags and bagged recyclables.

Brush Collection (Monthly)

Brush must be at the curb by Monday at 7 a.m. during your zone's week: 

  • Zone 1: First full week of the month
  • Zone 2: Second full week
  • Zone 3: Third full week
  • Zone 4: Fourth full week

Bulk Waste Collection (Monthly)

  • All zones: Collected once a month during the second full week (on your regular trash day). 
  • Please have bulk waste curbside by 7 a.m. on Monday.
Acceptable Items Include:
  • Carpeting (cut into 4-foot bundles)
  • Household furniture
  • Appliances with CFCs removed
  • Moving boxes (broken down and bundled)
  • Oversized waste is customary in normal household operations

Unacceptable Items Include:
  • Appliances containing CFCs
  • Gasoline
  • TVs 
  • Paint
  • Batteries
  • Fluorescent light bulbs
  • Tires
  • Vehicles and parts
  • Concrete, brick, asphalt, roofing
  • Large pieces of metal
  • Motor oil (and used filters)
  • Construction debris
  • Dead animals
  • Syringes
  • No disposal of CFC refrigerant-containing items (i.e. refrigerators, freezers, etc.)
  • Moving boxes are recyclable if cut and placed in a recycling cart.
  • No household waste is allowed during BULK collection.
  • All unacceptable items must be removed and disposed of at the Burnet County Transfer Station.
  • Unacceptable items commingled with acceptable items will not be collected.

Observed holidays include Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's Day.   There will be no pickup on these days.

Brush Drop Off  

If you have brush and missed your quarterly brush collection or don’t want to wait until your next monthly collection, you can drop off your brush, tree limbs, and yard clippings at the City’s designated disposal site on Colt Circle. Items not allowed include construction materials, tires, batteries, oil, paint, chemicals, or other household trash and debris.

WHO: This service is FREE for City of Marble Falls’ residents, businesses, and property owners. (Proof of residency (e.g., utility bill) is required.)* It is available to area contractors and non-residents for a fee.

*Non-residents, contractors, and/or commercial firms:

  • 8-foot trailer or less $35.00
  • Greater than an 8-foot trailer to 16-foot trailer $50.00
  • Greater than 16-foot trailer $75.00

Landfill Information
The City of Marble Falls does not operate its own landfill or dump facility. Instead, residents typically use a nearby transfer station operated by Waste Management in Burnet County.  Call for pricing and fees.
